Connect Your Church to Samaritan’s Purse Together we can reach hurting people with physical relief and the hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. <!--

Samaritan’s Purse connects churches in the United States with churches across the globe as they seek to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and fulfill the Great Commission. We want local churches to know how God is working both here and among the nations and then present them with opportunities to get involved.

We invite your church to prayerfully consider supporting us as we help a hurting world in Jesus’ Name.

Frequently Asked Questions Is Samaritan’s Purse an evangelistic or relief organization?

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing both spiritual and physical relief to hurting people around the world. We serve the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Where does Samaritan’s Purse work?

Samaritan’s Purse has field offices in 14 countries: Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Cambodia, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Liberia, Niger, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Greece, Iraq, Haiti, and Bolivia. Our ongoing work focuses on water, sanitation, and hygiene; food distribution and nutrition initiatives; livestock and livelihoods training; anti-trafficking programs; maternal and child health; education; and discipleship and evangelism. In addition, Samaritan’s Purse is ready to immediately respond in Jesus’ Name wherever disaster strikes. Our recent international crisis responses include Bangladesh, where we cared for Rohingya refugees with diphtheria, and the Caribbean, where our relief and rebuild efforts continue following hurricanes Irma and Maria. Samaritan’s Purse also responds to natural disasters throughout the United States and, in some cases, follows up with disaster relief rebuild projects. We also have annual construction projects in remote parts of Alaska. Through Operation Christmas Child we are working in more than 100 countries. Operation Christmas Child provides local partners, including churches, with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. The Greatest Journey discipleship program, developed by Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, teaches Operation Christmas Child shoebox recipients how to know Christ, grow in their faith, and share this Good News with others. World Medical Mission is the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse. Every year we send out more than 600 volunteer Christian medical personnel to more than 40 mission hospitals around the world. Our Children’s Heart Project arranges lifesaving operations for children in need from multiple countries, including Mongolia, Uganda, and Bolivia. In Liberia and South Sudan we provide cataracts and cleft lip and palate surgeries. We are also busy at Samaritan Lodge Alaska every year from May—September as we welcome wounded veterans and their spouses for a week of Biblically based marriage enrichment training through Operation Heal Our Patriots. Our aftercare team follows up with couples during the year through events and personal contact.

Can our church partner with Samaritan’s Purse in specific countries or on specific projects?

Please email info@samaritan.org or call (800) 528-1980 for information about opportunities to partner directly with a project or disaster response.

How does Samaritan’s Purse support local churches overseas and at home?

Everywhere we go, we seek to partner with local churches to meet spiritual and physical needs in their communities. As we provide relief in disaster and crisis situations, we come alongside local churches to identify people in desperate need and to mobilize the Body of Christ to serve in Jesus’ Name. For example, after hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated islands in the Caribbean, our teams held emergency relief distributions at local churches and provided generators to churches. In northern Iraq, we are encouraging congregations to stand firm in their faith and to continue sharing the Gospel as we rebuild churches destroyed by ISIS. Samaritan’s Purse helps equip local pastors in Southeast Asia to start small group Bible studies in poor, remote villages. We work with churches in several African countries to offer literacy classes where the Bible is a primary teaching resource. Operation Christmas Child also relies on local churches in more than 100 countries to advance the Gospel through shoebox outreach events and The Greatest Journey. These are just a few examples, scratching the surface of how we partner with local churches.

Does Samaritan’s Purse offer mission trips for churches?

Samaritan’s Purse offers volunteer opportunities for both church groups and individuals during disaster relief responses and rebuild projects, primarily but not exclusively in the United States.

How can our children and youth participate in the work of Samaritan’s Purse?

It’s easy for children and youth in your church to serve others in Jesus’ Name through the work of Samaritan’s Purse. Children who pack Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes can make an eternal impact in the lives of children across the world. They can participate in shoebox packing parties and fundraise for Operation Christmas Child. Youth ages 13 and up, if accompanied by a chaperone, can also volunteer at an Operation Christmas Child processing center. Youth at least 14 years old, when joined by a parent, can volunteer during Samaritan’s Purse U.S. disaster relief responses. Our teams respond quickly when natural disasters strike and we need an army of volunteers to come alongside hurting homeowners and offer the hope of Jesus Christ.

How much of our gift goes directly to beneficiaries?

All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 10 percent to be used for administering the gift. Occasionally, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project. When that happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need.

How can I schedule a speaker from Samaritan’s Purse to come to my church? Please use this form to request a speaker. How can I request more information? You may use this form to contact us with additional questions.

PARTNER TESTIMONY

"As a church, we wanted to go where it’s not comfortable and to make bold steps for Christ. Last year, we were part of a vision trip to Iraq and went to the Emergency Field Hospital. We felt convicted to help rebuild houses that were destroyed by ISIS. We have since worked with Samaritan's Purse to fund the building of two homes for Christian families.

I have personally experienced the integrity and value that Samaritan’s Purse adds to a community and the impact they make every day. It’s phenomenal. It’s worth investing time, energy, and money into an organization that can be just about anywhere whenever they are needed. It makes me proud to be part of something like that."

David Neely, Operations and Outreach Pastor, Blue Valley Baptist Church, Overland Park, Kansas

<!-- "It’s way more than packing boxes. We prayed over each box and for the child who would receive the box. We wanted every shoebox to show a child that someone cares about them" Toni Berke, Boone -->   Give We know your church's gift to Samaritan's Purse represents a trusted investment from the congregation.

PARTNER TESTIMONY

“A few years ago, we had an offering on Christmas Eve and 100 percent went to Samaritan’s Purse to help with the South Sudan refugee crisis. It has been a life-changing experience for our church family to continue that South Sudan project every year. We partnered with Samaritan’s Purse because we know that not only will the humanitarian effort go to help people in South Sudan, but that the hope of Christ will also go to South Sudan.

I recently went to South Sudan with Samaritan’s Purse on a vision trip. I was able to bridge the relationship between my church family in America and the people in need in South Sudan. The spiritual maturity and quality of the Samaritan’s Purse staff I met was nothing short of impressive. They are genuine, sold-out-for-Christ servants.”

Doug Thuen, Senior Pastor, Sparta Evangelical Free Church, Sparta, New Jersey

<!-- “I met one-on-one with people who came from all different ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. They were there for the same purpose I was—we wanted to serve.” Stan Sprouse, Blowing Rock -->   Serve

Members of your church, whether as individuals or groups, can volunteer on a U.S. disaster relief response and bring compassion and relief to families struggling after a natural disaster. We also could not do this work without our Lighthouse Churches. As a Lighthouse Church, you serve as a home base by housing Samaritan’s Purse volunteers, storing equipment, and helping connect your community with Samaritan’s Purse volunteer opportunities.

Your church can share the Good News of Jesus Christ with children in desperate need by packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, fundraising for Operation Christmas Child, and volunteering at an Operation Christmas Child processing center. We also have seasonal employment opportunities at these processing centers.

Interested in serving internationally? Medical personnel can volunteer through World Medical Mission, and opportunities exist to join a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART).

"After Hurricane Harvey, we wanted to engage and help, but we had no way to get there and no idea what to do. Samaritan’s Purse gave me confidence to send people into a disaster zone. I knew we would be trained and the work would be organized and done correctly. I also knew the work would not happen unless it was about Jesus.

Samaritan’s Purse mobilizes on an unprecedented scale. Samaritan’s Purse came [to Texas] for a commitment. This was an opportunity to build relationships in the area affected. Our church wasn’t looking for one-and-done—we were looking for commitment.

Our church shares a kindred spirit with Samaritan’s Purse, because we want the Gospel to be proclaimed. I love how Samaritan’s Purse helps the church to be the church. We wanted to respond in the Name of Christ after Harvey and we didn’t know how. You helped the Bride of Christ to be the hands and feet of Christ.”

John Patterson, Pastor of Missions and Men, Grace Covenant Church, Austin, Texas

<!--“I met one-on-one with people who came from all different ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. They were there for the same purpose I was—we wanted to serve.” Stan Sprouse, Blowing Rock -->   Pray

Please pray for Samaritan’s Purse projects that seek to help hurting people in the Name of Jesus. Pray that these projects will be a platform to build relationships and to introduce people to Jesus Christ. Some of our projects include clean water, agriculture and livelihoods, women’s programs, health and medical ministries, and discipleship training.

Please pray for the U.S. disaster relief and international crisis response opportunities of Samaritan’s Purse. Pray that as we meet critical needs for victims of conflicts and disasters we will have many opportunities to share the hope and healing that is only found in Jesus Christ.

Please pray for Samaritan’s Purse staff serving around the world. Pray for God to use them to boldly speak the Gospel.

We would also love to pray for you. If you have a request you'd like us to bring before the Lord on your behalf, let us know. Go to our contact page, select "Prayer Requests" from the drop-down menu, and fill out the form.

"To see how our King orchestrates connections around the world and meets some of the most desperate needs on our planet through Samaritan’s Purse is a joy to me personally. Only eternity will reveal the degree to which our Savior has worked through our friends at Samaritan’s Purse to show a suffering world how much He loves and cares for them!

Senior pastor Brian Biggers, Lamb’s Chapel, Haw River, N.C.

Helping Persecuted Christians Return Home Samaritan’s Purse is restoring houses damaged by ISIS to give Iraqi believers a reason to remain in their homeland. Share Tweet Pin Emaily Subscribe

When ISIS took over large portions of northern Iraq in 2014, Christians fled for their lives. Many of them lived in tents or abandoned buildings in other parts of the country for more than three years. But even when their hometowns were finally liberated from ISIS control, all that was left behind was rubble.

Since September 2017, Samaritan’s Purse has rebuilt 765 homes so that Iraqi Christians can come back to their traditional villages on the Nineveh Plains. These families have lived there for generations, and their return allows them to continue as a light for Christ in a Muslim-majority nation.

Oriana chose not to marry or pursue a career in order to care for her paralyzed mother. When ISIS forced them from their home in Qaraqosh, they left everything behind. Sadly, Oriana’s mother passed away while they were displaced, and then when Oriana's daughter tried to return to their home, she found a mess. There was no money left to repair it.

Samaritan’s Purse stepped in and our staff worked together with local contractors to repair the broken windows, bullet-ridden walls, and electrical wiring in the home. Oriana was grateful and told a Samaritan’s Purse staff member, “You represent Jesus in your heart and your deeds here.” Now she's happily back at home.

So far, Samaritan’s Purse has repaired nearly 700 lightly damaged homes with an average repair cost of $2,500. In addition, we’ve restored nearly 70 heavily damaged homes that average $8000 to complete. Because of the tremendous need, we want to repair more of the heavily damaged and totally destroyed homes. Would you be willing to help more people like Oriana return home?

“Believers have been persecuted. They feel that there’s hate and that they’re unwanted," said Yousif, the Iraqi staff member who manages our rebuild program, Project Nehemiah. "The only thing to connect them with their country is their homes. If they lose their homes, they have nothing to keep them here.

"ISIS tried to take this population and cut their roots. This is the time to support these people."

Please pray that Samaritan’s Purse will be able to rebuild many more homes for persecuted believers and, as a result, encourage an ongoing Christian presence in Iraq.

Nkhoma Mission Hospital, Nkhoma, Malawi

Mission Organization: World Gospel Mission (WGM) Profile: Over a period of 97 years, the hospital has developed from a single missionary doctor who did a course in tropical medicine, into a reasonably well-equipped 250-bed facility. It has pediatrics, surgical, general male and female wards with isolation rooms, tuberculosis, maternity and private wards, a labor room, two general theatres, outpatient department, family health clinic, ARV-clinic and supportive departments (physiotherapy, pharmacy, administration). There is also an ophthalmic department with ophthalmic theatre. Its primary catchment area is the surrounding rural community of 64,000 people; however, it serves patients from all over Malawi as well as from neighboring countries. It offers in- and outpatient care locally and conducts mobile clinics in its catchment area. Yearly 53,000 outpatient are seen, 19,000 people are admitted, 1,700 people are operated on in the general theatre, 2,500 ophthalmic operations are done and 3,000 deliveries are conducted. Some operations are of a specialist nature (e.g. Vesicovaginal Fistula repair, cataract removal and lens implantation); provision of these services lightens the workload of the nearest referral hospital (Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe). The Health Department supervises governmental and non-governmental Health Centers within its catchment area (nine in total) and CCAP Health Centers throughout the Central Region of Malawi (10 in total). The Hospital has negotiated a Service Agreement with the District Health Office (DHO) of Lilongwe. This enables the surrounding community to access obstetrical and five other services free of charge with the government paying for the expenses. It has built a reputation of offering good quality care, explaining the number of people coming from remote areas. Travel: A driver from the hospital will pick you up. In-country transportation is $100 USD roundtrip. Time Difference: +6 hours Daylight Savings Time (EST), USA +7 hours (Eastern Standard Time) USA Location: The hospital is located one (1) hour southeast of Lilongwe. People: Malawians find greeting very important. Even if you meet a group of people, it will be appreciated if you greet every person separately. Language: Official working language is English, but most patients speak only Chichewa Climate: Winter in July-August can be fairly cold: 59 to 68 degrees Fahrenheit, in the day, 41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit at night). Realize that there is no central heating and the houses and hospital are built to keep the heat out (bring warm clothes and sweater). The hottest season is in October-November, just before the rainy season starts (77-95 degrees Fahrenheit in the day, 68- 77 degrees Fahrenheit at night). In the rainy season, November to April, there are usually daily thunderstorms, but it can rain throughout the day. Roads and paths in Nkhoma are not tarred, so your shoes can get rather messy this time of year. Housing: There is one guesthouse near the hospital with single and shared rooms and dormitory, shared bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals and living room. There is a fridge, freezer, oven and microwave available. The guest house will have dish towels, linens and bath towels. The guesthouse is a nice place to stay if you like company of other students/ visitors. If you like to have some more privacy, or are coming with a group, you can consider staying at the lodge. A couple of the options are more independent/autonomous so the visitor would buy their own groceries, including toilet paper and paper towels. For a small fee you can have washing done. The electrical socket type in Nkhoma is South-African. Food: If you provide ingredients (yeast, flour, oil, salt, sugar) someone can bake bread for you. You are advised to buy some food when you are arriving, so that at least you have something to eat in your first week at the guesthouse (think about rice, pasta, bread, peanut butter, jam, and fruit) For More Information: Contact Karen Holden by email or by phone at: (828) 588-2064.

<!-- Liberty University Shoebox Challenge --> <!--Give Your Students a Simple Way to Spread the Gospel:--> Liberty University Shoebox Challenge <!----> Take the Challenge!

Your community group could get a rare opportunity to take an expenses-paid trip together overseas to witness children hearing and responding to the Gospel through Operation Christmas Child outreach events!

The community group that wins our Liberty University Shoebox Challenge will be invited to join several local churches in an overseas location (details in process) as they share the Good News of Jesus Christ—God’s Greatest Gift—and distribute Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to children in need in their communities. Experience what it’s like to see the joy on a child’s face as they receive what might be their first gift!

The trip is being tentatively scheduled for a few days following the end of final exams. What a way for your community group to mark the end of a semester together before celebrating the birth of our Lord Christ Jesus at Christmas!

Challenge Details Pick up free shoeboxes to fill with gifts at Campus Community on Oct. 10. Meet as a community group to fill shoeboxes to the brim with new, quality-condition school supplies, hygiene items, toys, and other fun items. See our gift suggestions according to age group, and don’t forget to include a “Wow” Item! Pray as a group for the boys and girls who will receive your shoebox gifts. Enter your group in the Challenge by Nov. 5! Post a video or photo of your community group packing shoebox gifts—using #LUShoeboxChallenge, tagging @OperationChristmasChild, and including the number of shoeboxes the group is packing and the number of group participants. Only one post/entry per community group, so brainstorm and make the most out of the post! Drop off your packed shoeboxes at the Liberty University Shoebox Blitz, Nov. 2–9, in Montview Student Union. Be sure to fill out a shoebox drop-off log there to associate the shoebox gifts you are dropping off with your community group.

What we’re looking for in #LUShoeboxChallenge submissions: A panel of judges will evaluate Challenge submissions based on depth of participation, creativity, quality, and presentation. Share the excitement of packing Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts! Convey the Gospel focus of sharing God’s love with children in need around the world!

The number of shoebox gifts you pack is important because each shoebox means one more child who hears the Gospel through Operation Christmas Child, but we’re also wanting to see how you’re helping to spread the Good News and Great Joy of our Lord Jesus Christ through this ministry! Remember, your group’s post is an opportunity to tell others the eternal difference that God is making in lives around the world!

Contest Rules

Members of the community group that wins the #LUShoeboxChallenge must have an official passport that’s valid for at least six months beyond the dates of the trip that will occur in mid-December in order for each person to be eligible to go on the trip.

[rules will go here]

More Than A Shoebox! <!---->

When a child receives an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift, it is only the beginning. Millions of boys and girls also have the opportunity to learn more about Jesus’ gift of salvation and what it means to follow Him.

As a follow-up to its Operation Christmas Child project, Samaritan’s Purse developed a discipleship program for shoebox recipients called The Greatest Journey. Samaritan’s Purse trains local churches to teach this 12-lesson Bible study about how to receive Jesus as Savior and to tell others about His saving grace.

God can use you to help change a child’s eternity.

Samaritan’s Purse Provides Aid to 351,000 Hurricane Maria Victims in Puerto Rico (Press Release)

"Disaster Response Specialists Preparing to Aid Victims of Carr Fire"—Franklin Graham

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Sept. 5, 2018 — In the year since Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico, international Christian relief organization Samaritan’s Purse has helped some 351,000 hurricane victims—more than 10% of the island’s population.

“Our team has been on the ground in Puerto Rico since day one—working to help families recover from Hurricane Maria,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “Most importantly, we are sharing God’s love to Puerto Ricans who are hurting as we provide critical relief.”

Samaritan’s Purse relief specialists in Puerto Rico and throughout the Caribbean are continuing the work that began immediately after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, when the organization’s DC-8 cargo aircraft made an unprecedented series of 41 flights in the span of 90 days. The plane transported more than 1,000 tons of emergency relief supplies as well as disaster response staff between North Carolina and the Caribbean.

“We are happy because, through Samaritan’s Purse, we’ve seen that this world still has people who dedicate themselves to help others in need,” said 82-year-old Ana Luciano, who, with her 84-year-old husband Jose Rivera Serrano, care for a daughter and son who have special needs. Their storm-damaged roof was repaired by Samaritan’s Purse.

Samaritan’s Purse has repaired 251 Maria-damaged homes and plans to do the same for at least 139 additional homeowners on the island by the end of the year.

In the hardest-hit areas of Puerto Rico, a solar project is bringing renewable, stable power for 100 households like that of Cecilia Burgos. The 88-year old stroke victim needs a fan to stay cool, as well as reliable refrigeration for crucial prescription medications.

Since the storm hit, more than 300 Puerto Rican churches have partnered with Samaritan’s Purse, serving as lifelines for residents bringing crucial help to their surrounding communities—an effort that extends far beyond their congregations. During the recovery phase, Samaritan’s Purse has repaired 30 damaged churches, with another 25 planned for repair in the coming months.

Samaritan's Purse first deployed teams of disaster response specialists across five Caribbean islands in the immediate aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, to provide medical help and distribute food, emergency shelter materials, clean water, hygiene kits and solar lights to families in need.

In addition to distributing relief supplies, the organization established 16 clean water points throughout the Caribbean that provided ongoing sources of clean water, totaling some 3.3 million gallons.

With the conclusion of the emergency response phase, the organization continues to ship additional supplies on barges, with more than 3,500 tons of aid shipped by air and sea to the Caribbean so far. Many supplies have also been sourced locally.

About Samaritan’s Purse

Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, Samaritan's Purse has helped more than 94,900 families in the Caribbean, which includes disaster response efforts in Turks and Caicos, St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda. Samaritan’s Purse also helped more than 3,800 families impacted by the Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in Texas and Florida.

The Biomedical Technology department of World Medical Mission plays a vital role in helping to ensure that overseas mission hospitals have properly functioning equipment to aid their staff in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of patients. At our North Carolina warehouse, technicians refurbish donated equipment and make sure machines are operational and meet appropriate standards. The equipment and other medical supplies are then shipped to mission hospitals around the world. In addition, our technicians travel to dozens of mission hospitals and clinics to install, repair, and maintain a variety of imaging and laboratory equipment. They also train staff at these medical facilities in the operation and ongoing maintenance of that equipment. “I wanted to go on this trip to learn what it means to serve God overseas as a biomed. He taught me that and so much more! We built IV poles, bedside tables, and more, and we repaired everything from IV pumps to patient monitors to dental suctions. When we weren’t working, I got to hang out with missionaries. The week I spent in ELWA (Liberia) was lifechanging for me.” — Callie Carpenter, biomedical engineer volunteer who served at ELWA Hospital in Liberia Due to growing needs on the mission field, World Medical Mission has started a volunteer program for Christian biomedical technicians who are interested in serving on a short-term basis at overseas hospitals. Requirements: Applicants must be committed followers of Jesus Christ. International travel experience is preferred, but not required. Potential Volunteers Need to Know:The length of assignments is generally one to two weeks. A first-time volunteer will serve alongside one of our staff technicians in an international mission hospital setting. The costs for on-site meals and accommodations may be provided by the host facility. Help Survivors of the Indonesia Earthquake &amp Tsunami Samaritan’s Purse Responding to Indonesia Earthquake and Tsunami Share Tweet Pin Email Subscribe

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to help hurting people after an earthquake and ensuing tsunami hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. The 7.5-magnitude quake triggered a tsunami with waves up to 20 feet high, as well as mudslides. More than 1,400 people at least have died.

We have a disaster assistance response team already on the ground to determine how we can best serve the needs of those in hard-hit areas. We will be partnering with local churches as we work.

An estimated 2 million people have been affected by these devastating events. Reports indicate nearly 200,000 are in urgent need of assistance; people are desperate for food and water. More than 65,000 people have lost their homes, and hundreds are injured. Bridges have been destroyed, roads are blocked, and telecommunications are down. Mass graves are being dug to avoid the spread of disease.

Please pray for those suffering in Indonesia. Pray that, during this tragedy, God’s love will be shown in action to families in desperate need.

Samaritan's Purse is responding to the Florida Panhandle and parts of Georgia where Hurricane Michael ripped up homes and communities with high winds and heavy rain. Michael is the most powerful storm in recorded history to strike the Florida Panhandle. We will deploy volunteer teams into affected areas to help homeowners with cleanup, mud-outs, and debris removal.

Michael made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Oct. 10 near Mexico Beach, Florida, packing 155 mile per hour winds and a 14-foot storm surge in some locations. It passed into Georgia as a very dangerous Category 2, leaving battered homes and communities in its wake.

Volunteers will assist homeowners affected by flooding and storm damage, including mud-outs, roof tarping, chainsaw work and debris cleanup. Please pray for homeowners and for our teams. Your generous giving will go directly to help with recovery efforts in this storm-torn region.

Samaritan’s Purse is a non-profit non-denominational Christian relief and evangelism organization led by Franklin Graham that works in the U.S. and around the world to help victims of disaster, disease, poverty, famine, and war.

Local Families Make Global Impact Through Operation Christmas Child

This year, U.S. participants hope to collect more than 9.1 million gifts to contribute to the 2018 global goal of reaching 11 million children.

“We are honored to be linking arms with our community to help children around the world experience the true meaning of Christmas,” said Randy Riddle, senior director of Operation Christmas Child in the United States, “These simple gifts show God’s love to children facing difficult circumstances.”

NC-Based Organization Standing By with Tools, Relief Supplies in Butte County

CHICO, Calif., Nov. 15, 2018—Samaritan's Purse is on the ground in Northern California preparing to aid families impacted by the Camp Fire. Already the most deadly and destructive wildfire in state history, it continues to scorch Butte County. The North Carolina-based organization has prepositioned disaster response specialists and a tractor-trailer stocked with relief supplies, alongside Billy Graham Evangelistic Association chaplains. The crisis-trained Rapid Response Team chaplains are currently offering spiritual and emotional care to people impacted by the fire. Samaritan's Purse teams are standing by and ready to begin relief and recovery efforts as soon as authorities permit them to enter the communities that have been ravaged by the fire.

"My heart breaks for families who have lost homes and loved ones in the California wildfires," said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse. "We want to come alongside them in the midst of this tragedy and remind them that God still loves them. Please pray for the first responders and all of the families who have been impacted."

Samaritan's Purse will mobilize volunteers from across the country to sift through the ashes of destroyed homes—searching for jewelry, coins or other keepsakes that may have survived the flames. Regardless of monetary value, discovered items often become invaluable to families who have lost everything.

This response comes less than three months after Samaritan’s Purse helped more than 200 families recover from the Carr Fire in Redding, California.

INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES Lorenzo Torres, program manager of U.S. Disaster Relief for Samaritan's Purse, on the ground in Chico, California Luther Harrison, vice president of North American Ministries for Samaritan's Purse
